I wanted to take some time to share the truly remarkable story of a special serigraph print. Several months ago, my mom and I were generously gifted beautiful, limited-edition religious serigraph prints depicting the Adoration of the Magi, created by Italian contemporary artist Gabriela Desvaldi, from a family friend. Our friend’s initial intention was for me to sell the serigraphs, with the proceeds contributing to my continued education. After some thought, I decided to approach these serigraphs with the same philosophy as I do my own artwork—that art is a gift to be shared and a way into the soul, empowering each of us to connect with others on a common spiritual level.

I quickly became inspired to gift the serigraphs to a small group of family and friends, and soon after to connect with others who I thought would enjoy them. Each serigraph is signed by the artist and numbered, and accompanied by a corresponding signed and numbered certificate of authenticity. In response to an inquiry from a recipient, I later began to offer my framing services, including restored vintage and antique frames. These framed serigraphs are backed with a certificate of authenticity and a brief description of the work and the artist. Many recipients were immensely grateful simply to reconnect, even before considering the serigraph. Some then touched base to share their own stories and connections, such as where they placed it in their homes, and who they additionally gifted them to, including internationally.

Furthermore, it was my immense honor to donate framed serigraphs to Christian instituitions throughout New Jersey, including the Motherhouse and St. Catherine of Siena Convent and Healthcare Center of the Sisters of St. Dominic of Caldwell, St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in Caldwell, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Metuchen, and St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church in my hometown of Bridgewater, to name a few. Yet another was St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church in Peapack, to which I gifted a serigraph in memory of Mary Anna Molka, who was my grandma’s childhood friend, my mom’s godmother, and a close friend of our family.

I could not have possibly imagined the sheer volume of connections and gratitude that would be facilitated through this initiative. It is amazing how just a small gesture of faith and kindness has made such a profound and positive impact on myself and others.

Amidst our busy and hectic lives, we may, at times, need a reminder of what is truly important. However, none of us are too busy to offer a small act of kindness. The true gift is acknowledging people and connecting with them. Perhaps someone may even be inspired to take your example. Kindness is a gift that keeps on giving.
